The short version: TraitGen does not collect, store, or share any personal information you enter into our calculators. All calculations run entirely in your browser. We use Google Analytics for traffic data and Google AdSense for advertising, both of which use cookies.

1. Information we collect
Information you enter into calculators
We do not collect this information. All data entered into TraitGen's 39 genetics calculators (eye colour, height, blood type, due date, etc.) is processed entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. This data is never transmitted to our servers, never stored in any database, and never shared with any third party. When you close or refresh the page, the data is gone.
Automatically collected information
When you visit TraitGen.com, certain technical information is automatically collected by the services we use:
- IP address (collected by Google Analytics, anonymised)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Pages visited and time on site
- Referring website (how you arrived at our site)
- Country and approximate region
We do not use this data to identify individual users. It is used solely for aggregate traffic analysis to understand how the site is used.
2. Calculator data: what stays on your device
Every calculator on TraitGen runs entirely in the browser using client-side JavaScript. This means:
- Parent and grandparent traits you enter are never sent to our servers
- Calculation results are never stored anywhere
- No account is required and no profile is created
- Refreshing the page clears all entered data
- We cannot see, access, or retrieve any information you enter
The Baby Face Generator (calculator 35) uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate descriptions. The parent trait data you enter is sent to Anthropic's API to generate the description. Anthropic's privacy policy governs this data. No personally identifying information is required or transmitted.
3. Analytics and advertising
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use TraitGen. GA4 collects anonymised usage data through first-party cookies. Data is processed by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google AdSense
We display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to TraitGen and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

5. Your rights
GDPR (European Union)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights including: the right to access data held about you, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, and the right to data portability. Because TraitGen does not store personal data from calculator inputs, most of these rights relate to data held by Google Analytics and AdSense. Contact us or review Google's privacy tools to exercise these rights.
CCPA (California)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of sale of personal information. TraitGen does not sell personal information. To exercise your rights regarding Google Analytics or AdSense data, please use Google's privacy controls.
India (IT Act 2000 and PDPB)
TraitGen is operated from India and complies with the Information Technology Act 2000 and its amendments. We are committed to compliance with the Personal Data Protection Bill requirements as they come into force.
6. Children's privacy
TraitGen is a general audience genetics education website. Many of our tools are used by expecting parents researching traits for their unborn or newborn children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. No account registration is required to use any feature of this site. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
